Design Systems

Consistency should be designed, not repeatedly negotiated.

Design system work creates the shared language — tokens, components, patterns, and documentation — that keeps websites and products consistent as teams and features grow.

Study — Design Systems
  1. Design audit

We inventory what exists in production: every color value, type size, button variant, and spacing decision. The audit shows what the system must consolidate and where inconsistency costs the most.

  2. Foundations and tokens

Design principles plus named, purposeful tokens for color, typography, and spacing — with accessible contrast documented for every combination in use.

  3. Components

Core components designed with full state coverage: default, hover, focus, active, disabled, loading, error, and empty. States are where systems earn their keep.

  4. Responsive patterns and interaction states

How layouts, tables, forms, and navigation adapt across screen sizes, and how every interactive element behaves — specified once, reused everywhere.

  5. Accessibility

Contrast, focus behavior, target sizes, and semantics built into tokens and components so accessible outcomes are the default, not a review finding.

  6. Content guidance and motion

Voice and formatting guidance for interface text, plus timing and easing standards so words and movement stay as consistent as visuals.

  7. Documentation

An organized Figma library and written documentation with usage rules and do-and-don't examples — built for the people who will use the system daily.

  8. Developer collaboration and governance

Token and component naming mapped to your codebase, plus a governance model defining ownership, contribution, and change management so the system evolves without fragmenting.

Questions about Design Systems

Is a design system overkill for a small team?

Sometimes. If one designer maintains one small product, documented conventions may suffice. The audit stage gives you an honest answer before major investment.

Do you implement the coded component library?

We specify the system to map cleanly onto your stack and collaborate with your engineers during implementation. Coded library development can be scoped where appropriate.

Can the system cover marketing site and product together?

Yes — shared foundations with context-specific components keep both consistent without forcing product constraints onto marketing pages.

How does the system stay current?

Governance is part of the deliverable: ownership, contribution process, and change management are defined so the system evolves rather than decays.
